Franklin Covey Design Your Own Pages

With the new year approaching, I went to FranklinCovey.com today to order my planner pages for 2006. I was browsing through the refill pages looking for a new design to try when I spotted a link to Design Your Own pages. I like having things my way, so naturally I clicked the link.

I spent the next 30 minutes or so designing pages to suit my personality and style. If you’ve ever used the Franklin Planner system, you know how the daily pages are designed with the task list and schedule on the left and daily notes on the right? Well, I find the tasks lines to be too short, and have very little need for the appointment schedule. The DYO interface allowed me to make the tasks lines go all the way across the page and move the appointment calendar to the bottom. It also allowed me to insert my own footer at the bottom “Sharon’s Wonderful Life” and print reminders of important days throughout the calendar year.

My only beef was that it didn’t provide more options for the look and feel of the pages, you’re allowed to select from 6 designs, none of which I found particularly interesting. I settled for City Life or something like that. It will take a couple weeks for it to arrive since it’s a custom job. In the meantime I’ll use some of my month at a glance planning pages to start the New Year. Stay tuned, I’ll let you know how I like it when it arrives.
